Unlike other creative businesses, you're not selling inventory — you're selling your voice. Every job you land is revenue generated from the same professional recording system.

Your VB1 Pro arrives physically assembled. The microphone, audio interface, cabling, and accessories are pre-installed into the custom Hexium™ tray. Open the case and connect your laptop; on the Windows version, also connect the included Apollo Solo USB external power supply.

Before your first recording, you'll still need to register your Universal Audio gear and install its software on your compatible computer. The original Apollo Solo box is included in your shipment with the original UA accessories and setup information.

No — and that's by design. A laptop is a personal choice, and most creators already own one. We didn't want to inflate the kit price or lock you into a specific computer.

Choose the Mac or Windows VB1 Pro configuration to match your computer. The Mac configuration uses the Apollo Solo Thunderbolt; the Windows configuration uses the Apollo Solo USB. Your computer must meet Universal Audio's current system requirements.

The Mac Thunderbolt interface is bus-powered through the laptop. The Windows USB interface requires its external AC power supply; the original Universal Audio power supply and Apollo Solo box are included with every Windows Vox Boy kit.

The complete VB1 Pro includes an SC-1 microphone and Apollo Solo. Already own an MKH 416? Choose Shotgun Ready, which includes a fitted microphone cavity but no microphone. Other interface substitutions are not currently supported.

No problem. When selecting your VB1 Pro Kit, you'll have the option to exclude the headphones from your order.

The complete VB1 Pro includes an SC-1 microphone and Apollo Solo. If you already own an MKH 416, Shotgun Ready has a fitted microphone cavity and no included microphone. Compare the kit configurations before choosing your microphone and headphone options.

The VB1 Pro was purpose-built around the Apollo Solo because it's more compact and because the internal tray and cable routing are custom-designed for its exact footprint. On the Mac configuration, the Apollo Solo Thunderbolt is bus-powered. On the Windows configuration, the Apollo Solo USB uses the included external power supply.

Yes, the Hexium™ tray is fully removable — but the kit is designed for you to record directly from the open case.

That said, removing the tray can be useful: place it on top of the closed case for a more elevated mic position, or stand the open case vertically like a book to use as a makeshift sound shield while using the tray separately.

You can start with LUNA Free on a compatible Mac or Windows PC without purchasing a separate DAW. Download and activate it through Universal Audio; LUNA Studio and other paid recording software are optional.

Recording software and UAD Console do different jobs

Your DAW records and edits audio. UAD Console handles Apollo routing, monitoring, and compatible UAD plug-ins. Choose the Console guide for your computer:

If you already use a compatible DAW, you can keep using it. Check its current system and interface requirements; paid software and additional plug-in licenses are purchased separately.

Yes — same kit, no compromises. The Apollo Solo carries two Unison mic preamps, so you can record two hosts to two separate tracks. Works with Riverside, Zencastr, Audacity, Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, and every other major platform.

Choose the Two-Person option at checkout — it adds a second Universal Audio SC-1 microphone and cabling. Each mic records to its own independent track for separate editing and levelling.

Usually not. The Apollo Solo has one headphone output, which matches how most podcasts are actually recorded — the host monitors while setting levels, then often records without headphones for a more natural conversation. Guests generally don't monitor because they aren't making adjustments. If you prefer your guest on headphones, any splitter works.

It's more than most podcasts need to publish, and less than most need to sound professional. It's also the same kit working voice actors use for paid bookings — so if you ever want to turn your voice into a second income stream, you already own the equipment.

Yes, and it matters more remotely, not less. Each host is responsible for their own local audio quality — the platform only captures what your hardware sends it. The VB1 Pro makes your side of every call the best-sounding one on it.

Both. Vox Boy sells dedicated Mac and Windows VB1 Pro configurations.

• Mac configuration: uses the Apollo Solo Thunderbolt and requires a compatible Mac with a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 connection.
• Windows configuration: uses the Apollo Solo USB and requires a compatible Windows 10/11 PC with a built-in USB 3 or 4 port.

Important: choose the operating-system configuration that matches your computer. The Windows Apollo Solo USB requires its external AC power supply; the original Universal Audio power supply and original Apollo Solo box are included with your Vox Boy kit, so you do not need to buy a separate adapter.

The VB1 Pro supports laptops up to 10 inches in depth (measured from hinge to front edge when closed).

Examples that physically fit in the case:

• MacBook Pro 14" and 16" (2021–2025 models)
• MacBook Air 13"/15"
• Slim PC laptops from 13"–14" screen sizes
• Some tablet-style computers and tablets

Won't fit:

• Most 17" and 18" laptops
• Gaming/workstation laptops with bulky cooling
• Older laptops with deeper chassis designs

Physical fit does not guarantee Apollo compatibility. Your computer must also meet Universal Audio's requirements for the Mac Thunderbolt or Windows USB interface in your kit. If you're close to the size limit or unsure about compatibility, send us your exact model and we'll help verify it.

iPads and Android tablets are not supported. The Apollo Solo requires Universal Audio software and drivers running on macOS or Windows.

Some Windows tablet-style PCs may run full Windows, but Universal Audio specifically does not recommend 2-in-1 notebook/tablet hybrid systems for Apollo USB. Windows on ARM is also incompatible with UA software and hardware.

For reliable operation, use a supported Mac or Windows laptop that meets Universal Audio's current system requirements. If you're unsure about a specific computer, send us the exact model before ordering and we'll help verify it.

It depends on which VB1 Pro configuration you choose:

• Mac / Apollo Solo Thunderbolt: No external power supply is used. The interface is bus-powered through its Thunderbolt connection.
• Windows / Apollo Solo USB: Yes. The interface requires its external AC power supply.

For Windows kits, the original Universal Audio power supply is included in the original Apollo Solo box shipped with your Vox Boy kit. You do not need to purchase a separate adapter.

The Apollo Solo setup for Windows / USB covers the power connection and first-time setup.

All orders ship from our fulfillment facility in El Cajon, California (San Diego County). We work closely with our assembly and logistics partner, Fuerte Cases, to ensure every kit is securely packed and shipped.

Each kit is assembled to order. Please allow 2–4 business days for processing before your order ships.

Delivery estimates begin after processing is complete. Kits weigh 25–27 lbs and ship in rugged oversized boxes — the expedited rate reflects actual carrier costs for heavy parcels. We don't mark up shipping.

Limited batches: VB1 Pro Kits are produced in limited runs. Once a run sells out, the kit is unavailable until the next batch is manufactured.

Currently, we ship within the United States only. We're actively working on international logistics and compliance.

Yes — once your order ships, you'll receive a confirmation email with tracking details. If you haven't received tracking within 4 business days of ordering, contact us at sales@voxboy.com.

Once a package is marked "Delivered" by the carrier, Vox Boy is not liable for lost or stolen items. If you believe your package is missing, contact the carrier first with your tracking number. If you need help, email us and we'll do our best to assist.

Manufacturer warranties (gear inside your kit)

• Universal Audio (Apollo Solo, SC-1 Mic): Covered by UA's manufacturer warranty (typically 1 year). Register directly with UA.
• Beyerdynamic (Headphones): Covered by Beyerdynamic's manufacturer warranty (typically 2 years). Register for full support.

Vox Boy warranty (case & tray)

The custom case and Hexium™ tray are warrantied directly by Vox Boy against manufacturing or assembly defects for 1 year.

Return process

1. Contact support first — Email sales@voxboy.com with your order number, reason for return, and photos if applicable.
2. Get your RMA — We'll send a Return Merchandise Authorization number and return address.
3. Ship it back — Customers pay return shipping unless the item is defective or incorrect. Use a trackable method.
4. Inspection & refund — Processed within 5–7 business days of receipt.

30-day return window on complete kits in like-new condition. Returns without prior approval will not be processed.

No — this is a common misconception. While professional studios use vocal booths, excellent voice over can be recorded without one when you have the right gear and technique.

• Use your phone's hotspot. Tether your laptop for a quick connection — it's a lifesaver in remote areas.
• Compress for speed. Bounce a smaller MP3 preview for audition approvals, then send full WAVs when needed.
• Cloud-sync when you reconnect. Tools like Dropbox, Google Drive, or WeTransfer queue uploads and resume automatically.
