The VB1 Pro Shotgun Ready is a complete portable recording system built around a microphone you already trust. Mil-spec Nanuk case, patent-pending Hexium™ tray with a foam cavity cut for shotgun mics, Universal Audio Apollo Solo interface, calibrated cabling, and the same under-90-second setup as the full kit.
Designed around the Sennheiser MKH 416-P48U3 (approx. 250 mm / 9.84 in). Shotgun microphones of similar or shorter length will also fit depending on diameter, connector, windscreen and mount.

What is included?
Universal Audio software setup, Apollo and microphone configuration (the included SC-1 with VB1 Pro, or your own microphone with Shotgun Ready), approved Vox Boy starting settings, monitoring and recording checks, and a recording and export walkthrough.
One setup session per kit. Charged as a separate item at checkout.
Vox Boy shares your name, email address, order number, and relevant kit details with George the Tech to deliver your purchased setup service.
Booking, cancellations & refunds
Contact GTT for scheduling changes, cancellations or a missed appointment. Email GTT
- At least 24 hours' notice: you may reschedule without penalty.
- Less than 24 hours' notice: contact GTT as soon as possible. Late cancellations are reviewed individually.
- If you miss your session and do not follow up with GTT, the session is considered used.
- Your scheduled time counts even if you are not ready. Missing equipment, software or account access does not extend the session or automatically provide a free replacement appointment.
- If GTT cancels, you can reschedule at no charge.
- GTT confirms whether a refund is appropriate, and Vox Boy issues the actual refund because Vox Boy collected the payment.
- If you never book your session, contact Vox Boy about any refund request. Vox Boy first confirms with GTT that the service was never redeemed.

[ PODCASTING WITH THE SHOTGUN READY KIT ]
Record each microphone to a separate track for independent editing. Microphone placement and room acoustics still affect spill between voices. Microphones aren't included in this kit: the tray is cut for the shotgun mic you already own, and the second input is there when you want it. Use recording software that supports your Apollo model and operating system. For remote platforms, check whether the platform accepts both local microphone inputs separately or as a combined feed. See compatible recording workflows and requirements. For remote recording, each host is responsible for their own local audio quality — the platform only captures what your hardware sends it.
The Apollo Solo has a single headphone output. That's deliberate: the host monitors while setting levels, and most hosts record without headphones for a more natural conversation. If you want your guest monitoring too, any headphone splitter works.

The same conversion and preamp behaviour as your home chain, through the microphone you already trust — so an audition recorded in a hotel matches a session recorded in your booth. Signal Lab ships presets dialled for difficult rooms. Latch to live signal in under 90 seconds, which means you can say yes to last-minute auditions instead of watching the window close.

1. Apollo Solo (Thunderbolt 3) – Recommended for Mac
- Compatibility: Works with all modern Macs (Thunderbolt 3 or 4) and select Windows PCs.
- Power: Bus-powered (runs off your computer’s power; no wall plug needed).
- Portability: Bus-powered recording with a compatible Thunderbolt computer.
- Windows Warning: Your PC must have a dedicated Thunderbolt 3 or 4 port. A standard USB-C port will not work. We cannot 100% guarantee compatibility with every Windows configuration due to motherboard driver variances.
2. Apollo Solo (USB) – Windows ONLY
- Compatibility: Designed exclusively for Windows. It will NOT work on a Mac.
- Power: Requires External Power (adapter included; must be plugged into a wall outlet).
- Why choose this? The safest and most stable choice for Windows users without a Thunderbolt port.
- Requirement: Requires a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed port (Type-A or Type-C).
