VB1 Pro Shotgun Ready — Portable Studio Kit for MKH 416
Already own the mic. Now give it a studio.
The VB1 Pro Shotgun Ready is a complete portable recording system built around a microphone you already trust. Mil-spec Nanuk case, patent-pending Hexium™ tray with a foam cavity cut for shotgun mics, Universal Audio Apollo Solo interface, calibrated cabling, and the same under-90-second setup as the full kit.
Designed around the Sennheiser MKH 416-P48U3 (approx. 250 mm / 9.84 in). Shotgun microphones of similar or shorter length will also fit depending on diameter, connector, windscreen and mount.

Head to The Signal Lab and download pro settings from working voice actors — so your first session sounds like your hundredth.
[ PODCASTING WITH THE SHOTGUN READY KIT ]
Two Unison mic preamps mean two hosts can record to two fully separate tracks — no shared channel, no bleed, full independent editing and levelling in post. Microphones aren't included in this kit: the tray is cut for the shotgun mic you already own, and the second input is there when you want it. Works with every major platform and DAW: Riverside, Zencastr, Audacity, Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, Pro Tools. For remote recording, each host is responsible for their own local audio quality — the platform only captures what your hardware sends it.
The Apollo Solo has a single headphone output. That's deliberate: the host monitors while setting levels, and most hosts record without headphones for a more natural conversation. If you want your guest monitoring too, any headphone splitter works.
[ VOICE OVER WITH THE SHOTGUN READY KIT ]
The same conversion and preamp behaviour as your home chain, through the microphone you already trust — so an audition recorded in a hotel matches a session recorded in your booth. Signal Lab ships presets dialled for difficult rooms. Latch to live signal in under 90 seconds, which means you can say yes to last-minute auditions instead of watching the window close.
processing/Shipping times
During our launch, we are expecting there will be some bugs to work out on our end. Please be aware it may take 3-5 business days to ensure your order is prepared and shipped from us in California.
[ NO MIC YET? ]

You're Not Just Buying a Kit.
You're Joining the Build.
This first production run is intentionally small. We're putting the VB1 Pro Shotgun Ready into the hands of working creators who will push it, test it, and help us make it better. In return, you get $500 off — and a direct line to our product team for as long as you own a Vox Boy.
Real-World Testing Partners
We engineered the VB1 Pro to be tough and light — but we need your miles, your flights, and your sessions to prove it. Use it hard. Tell us what works and what doesn't. Your feedback directly shapes the next version.
If It Breaks, We Fix It — Free
Our Hexium™ tray walks a fine line between strength and weight. If our Hexium™ tray needs a redesign based on real-world use, we'll engineer an improved version and ship it to you at no cost. You helped us find it — you get the fix first.
Shared Sound Profiles
We'll be sharing UA Console settings optimized for specific environments — hotel rooms, home offices, open spaces. And we want yours too. As a Founding Operator, your best settings get shared with the community (with credit).
Your Story, Amplified
Send us your setup photos, your recording stories, your wins. We'll feature Founding Operators on our website, social media, and future marketing. You're not just a customer — you're part of the Vox Boy origin story.
Direct Line to the Team
Founding Operators get a private feedback channel to our co-founders and product team. No support tickets. No chatbots. Real conversations with the people building the gear you're using.
Priority on Future Releases
New kits, new tray configurations, new accessories — Founding Operators get first access and exclusive pricing on everything that comes next. You backed us early. We remember that.
Our Promise to Founding Operators
We're not releasing this kit and walking away. This first run is the beginning of a collaboration. We designed the VB1 Pro with 15 years of real-world experience — but nothing replaces what happens when working creators take it into the field.
If we got the balance wrong on our Hexium™ tray, we'll redesign it and send you the upgrade. If you discover a sound setting that works brilliantly in a specific environment, we'll share it with the community and credit you. If you have an idea that makes the next version better, we want to hear it.
This isn't just a transaction. It's a partnership. You're helping us build the standard for the future of portable recording.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Choose the Right Version
The Apollo Solo comes in two distinct versions. They are not interchangeable. Please read the following carefully before selecting your kit to ensure compatibility with your system.
1. Apollo Solo (Thunderbolt 3) – Recommended for Mac
- Compatibility: Works with all modern Macs (Thunderbolt 3 or 4) and select Windows PCs.
- Power: Bus-powered (runs off your computer’s power; no wall plug needed).
- Pros: Maximum portability, lower latency, and includes the LUNA Recording System (Mac only).
- Windows Warning: Your PC must have a dedicated Thunderbolt 3 or 4 port. A standard USB-C port will not work. We cannot 100% guarantee compatibility with every Windows configuration due to motherboard driver variances.
2. Apollo Solo (USB) – Windows ONLY
- Compatibility: Designed exclusively for Windows. It will NOT work on a Mac.
- Power: Requires External Power (adapter included; must be plugged into a wall outlet).
- Why choose this? The safest and most stable choice for Windows users without a Thunderbolt port.
- Requirement: Requires a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed port (Type-A or Type-C).
Quick Check: Which one do I need?
| If your computer is a... | You should choose... | Note: |
|---|---|---|
| Mac (Apple) | Thunderbolt Version | The USB version will not work at all. |
| Windows (with Thunderbolt) | Thunderbolt Version | Best performance, but requires advanced setup. |
| Windows (Standard USB) | USB Version | The most reliable "plug-and-play" option for PC. |
• If you see the bolt, you have Thunderbolt.
• If you only see a USB symbol or "SS," you must use the USB version.
