The Apollo Solo has two Unison microphone preamps. Record each microphone to a separate track for independent editing. Microphone placement and room acoustics still affect spill between voices.
Use compatible multitrack recording software and assign each microphone input to its own mono track. In the edit, you can level, compress, de-ess and cut each host separately.
Choose the two-microphone configuration and both microphones ship in the same case. The Hexium™ tray is cut for both — nothing rattles, nothing needs reassembling at the other end.
Honest answer on headphones
The Apollo Solo has a single headphone output. That is deliberate, not an oversight. The host monitors while setting levels, and most hosts then record without headphones because it makes for a more natural conversation. If you want your guest monitoring as well, any headphone splitter works — there is nothing proprietary about it.
We would rather tell you that now than have you discover it after the box arrives.
Compatible recording software and remote platforms
Choose recording software that supports the Apollo interface supplied with your kit and your computer's operating system. Compatibility depends on the Apollo model, Universal Audio software, DAW or browser version, and the platform's audio-input support.
- Local two-host recording: select Apollo as the audio device in a compatible multitrack DAW, then assign Input 1 and Input 2 to separate mono tracks. Confirm that both tracks record independently before starting the session.
- Remote interviews: select Apollo as the microphone input in your recording or calling platform. Check the platform's current requirements and whether it accepts both local microphone inputs separately or as a combined feed. Remote participant tracks are not the same as two independent microphone tracks from one computer.
- Computer and power: choose the Vox Boy Mac/Thunderbolt or Windows/USB configuration that matches your computer. The Windows Apollo Solo USB requires the included external power supply. Install the required Universal Audio software before recording.

One thing worth understanding about remote recording: on Riverside, Zencastr and the rest, each participant is responsible for their own local audio. The platform only captures what your hardware sends it. The VB1 Pro cannot fix your guest's laptop microphone — what it does is make your side of every conversation the best-sounding one on the call.
