How to Set Up UAD Console & Voice-Over Plugins on Apollo Solo for Windows / PC
Set up UAD Console on Windows, authorize Apollo DSP plug-ins, load the Vox Boy voice-over session, choose REC or MON, and configure ASIO monitoring and playback.
Universal Audio Apollo Solo + UAD Console Voice-Over Setup for Windows
Your Apollo Solo is installed and registered. Now itβs time to build your voice-over starting sound.
Part 2 follows the same Vox Boy processing approach as the Mac guide, with the Windows file locations, USB audio driver, monitoring checks, and troubleshooting you need on PC.
The goal is simple: a repeatable sound you can open quickly, then adjust for your voice and recording environment.

Three UA Tools, Three Different Jobs
UA Connect downloads and updates software. UAD Meter & Control Panel authorizes DSP plug-ins and reports resource use. UAD Console is the live Apollo mixer for mic input, 48V, Unison, inserts, and monitoring.
Console loads UAD-2 DSP plug-ins. Native UADx and ordinary third-party plug-ins run inside a compatible DAW instead.
The Vox Boy Voice-Over Chain
Neve Preamp β UA 610-B β 1176LN Legacy β Pultec EQP-1A Legacy β C-Suite C-Vox
Neve occupies the Unison slot. The four processors after it fill the four standard inserts. Together they provide preamp color, compression, broad EQ, and noise/room reduction.
The PDF explains each stage and how to make useful adjustments. Verify your actual UA licenses: Neve Preamp and C-Vox may require separate purchases, and a native/Spark license is not automatically a DSP license.
Load the Vox Boy Settings on Windows
Save your current Console session first. Download the supplied settings, open Consoleβs Sessions β Open command, and choose the .uadmix file from Downloads. Check Analog 1, the plug-in slots, licenses, input gain, and REC/MON before recording.
Use Save As to make your own version. The default Windows session folder is:
C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\Universal Audio\Sessions
This is the existing Vox Boy session from the original guide. It has not been hardware-tested on a Windows PC for this edition. Loading it does not install plug-ins, transfer licenses, or configure every hardware/Windows audio setting.
UAD REC vs. UAD MON
UAD REC β Print It: standard insert processing becomes part of the direct channel recording sent to your DAW.
UAD MON β Keep It Flexible: you hear the standard inserts in Console while recording that direct input without those insert effects.
Unison is always recorded. If you want a completely clean safety take, keep the preamp path clean too. Recording an aux or other processed route can also print processing. Make a short recording and play it back to confirm.
Windows Monitoring and DSP
Choose the Universal Audio USB ASIO driver in your DAW and record a mono input 1 track. When listening through Console, turn off the DAW trackβs software input monitoring to avoid a delayed second copy of your voice.
Apollo Solo has one DSP core. Check DSP, PGM, and MEM after loading the chain; available capacity depends on the session and sample rate. If a plug-in goes offline, check authorization and resources. The PDF includes Windows buffer and USB troubleshooting.
